Position Overview
We are expanding our San Jose team to deliver world-class technical support to leading data center customers. As a Field Applications Engineer (FAE), you will be the critical technical bridge between our customers and internal R&D, ensuring their success by solving complex challenges from initial design-in through mass production.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct, on-site and remote technical support for system-level bring-up, debug, and validation of high-speed SerDes and interconnect ICs.
Perform signal integrity and network analysis to optimize performance of optical and copper links within customer systems.
Guide customers through the entire design cycle, including component evaluation, schematic/layout review, prototyping, and production deployment.
Lead module-level test and validation efforts, including troubleshooting HW/FW issues. Analyze performance gaps between internal and customer test environments and drive timely solutions.
Generate and present technical documentation, application notes, and training materials for customers and internal teams.
Collaborate with internal Sales, Marketing, and R&D to communicate customer feedback, field issues, and influence next-generation product architecture.
(For Senior Role) Mentor junior FAEs and provide technical leadership on strategic customer accounts.
Qualifications & Skills
Required for Junior FAE
BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in a relevant engineering role (e.g., Applications, Validation, Systems).
Strong fundamental knowledge of high-speed digital/analog circuit design and signal integrity principles.
Familiarity with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, BERTs, VNAs, and spectrum analyzers.
Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers.
Required for Senior FAE
BSc/MSc in Electrical Engineering (PhD a plus).
5+ years of experience as an FAE or in a customer-facing applications role within the semiconductor industry.
Deep, hands-on expertise in system-level bring-up and validation of high-speed SerDes (56G PAM4 and beyond).
Proven experience in signal integrity simulation, measurement, and network analysis for high-speed channels.
Strong understanding of optical module form factors (e.g., QSFP-DD, OSFP) and copper interconnect systems.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot optical module interoperability across different switch platforms.
Proven ability to lead technical engagements with major customers and manage critical issues to resolution.
