Luxshare-Tech’s New PCIe 6.0 CEM Connector “Redefines” the High-Speed Interconnect Standard with Outstanding SI Performance

Amid the current wave of digital transformation, emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data are developing rapidly. Data centers, as the core infrastructure supporting these technologies, are facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. With data volumes growing exponentially, the demand for high-speed and efficient data transmission in data centers has become extremely urgent. This not only affects the efficiency of data processing but also determines the overall performance and competitiveness of the data center. 

Recent research by OpenAI shows that AI computing power demand, represented by advanced large model training, is growing exponentially, doubling every 3–4 months. This is driving data centers to accelerate the upgrade to next-generation intelligent computing centers. At the same time, PCIe, as the internal high-speed interconnect standard for AI servers, storage arrays, and networking equipment, is rapidly iterating its technology, continuously enhancing internal high-speed transmission capabilities to help data centers build a faster “AI computing neural network.” In this context, PCIe 6.0, with its significant advantages, has become a key technology to meet data center needs, and Luxshare-Tech’s PCIe 6.0 CEM connector is set to demonstrate its unique value in this technological wave.


How to Achieve Both High Bandwidth and Signal Integrity-64GT/s High Bandwidth Accompanied by Severe Signal Integrity Challenges

Unlike the traditional NRZ encoding used in PCIe 5.0, PCIe 6.0 adopts a new PAM4 encoding scheme, expanding the signal levels from 2 to 4. Under the

same baud rate conditions, PAM4 signals achieve twice the bit rate of NRZ signals, doubling the transmission efficiency and increasing the transmission rate from 32GT/s to 64GT/s. However, the higher speed and more complex PAM4 modulation also bring stricter challenges to the signal integrity of high-speed interfaces.

PCIe 6.0 uses PAM4 encoding to transmit 2 bits per symbol. Since the spacing between the four PAM4 voltage levels is only one-third that of NRZ, the risk of eye diagram closure increases significantly, and signal anti-interference capability decreases. Sensitivity to noise and crosstalk is higher. Experimental data shows that under a 32dB channel loss budget, the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of PAM4 signals drops by 9dB compared to NRZ, and the bit error rate (BER) deteriorates from 1E-12 to 1E-6.

Therefore, whether the challenges of loss, crosstalk, and jitter can be overcome has become a key metric in determining whether a PCIe 6.0 CEM connector can truly enable reliable high-bandwidth system-level transmission.

The shielding design can suppress near-end crosstalk (NEXT) to below -60dB within 16GHz (the NEXT industry standard is -51.3dB), significantly improving signal integrity.

    •Precise Impedance Matching

Stable impedance control significantly reduces signal reflection and provides a clean channel for 256GB/s bidirectional bandwidth (x16). Real-world test results show that the product’s signal integrity exceeds PCI-SIG 6.0 standard requirements, offering a “zero compromise” interconnect foundation for GPU clusters, NVMe storage, and AI acceleration cards. Additionally, the product demonstrates excellent soldering capability, meeting 0.10mm coplanarity requirements during reflow, highlighting Luxshare-Tech’s leadership in precision manufacturing.
